SUMMARY:Open Board Meeting with Special Guest John Pepper
DESCRIPTION:John Pepper\, former CEO and President of Procter & Gamble and former Chairman of The Walt Disney Company\, understands that companies like yours face a daily challenge to find skilled workers. While efforts to improve the workforce pipeline are showing signs of success here in Bartholomew County\, it is becoming more evident that educational investments in our youngest\, at-risk children have the greatest social impact and achieve the highest return on investment. \n\n\n\nIn this community\, many children don't begin their formal education before kindergarten when they're about 5 years old. However\, early learning advocates said the first five years of a child's life are crucial to not only learning to read but also in developing social and critical thinking skills. \n\n\n\nOn November 4\, Bartholomew County voters will be asked to vote on a referendum to support all day\, public pre-kindergarten scholarships for our most disadvantaged children\, those who receive free and reduced lunch assistance.\n\n\n\nPlease join us to learn why John Pepper thinks this is critical to our community's - and our nation's - success.\n\n\n\nAbout John Pepper\n\n\n\nFrom 1963 to 2003\, he served in various positions at Procter & Gamble\, including Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2002\, and Chief Executive Officer. He served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of The Procter & Gamble Company until December 2003. He then served as Vice President of finance and administration at Yale University from January 2004 to December 2005. He has been a director of The Walt Disney Company since 2006. Pepper co-chairs the CEO Task Force for Ready Nation\, an organization dedicated to securing public funding for prekindergarten programs.
