Member Workshop: Department of Labor Audits Are Increasing! Are You Prepared?
Did you know...
Failure to provide ERISA SPD (Employee Retirement Income Security Act Summary Plan Description) and Health Care Reform notice disclosures to employees could cost an employer $112 per day per employee, for each day an employer plan sponsor fails to provide to employees?
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and IRS have increased enforcement of ERISA violations through DOL audit programs and IRS penalties under excise tax. More resources have been created to make it easier for employees to report compliance violations by their employer.
This seminar conducted by Carolyn McNairy, VP of Compliance Services at TASC (Total Administrative Services Corporation), will cover a number of critical issues, identify minimum reporting disclosure requirements, and the impact of non-compliance of ERISA. Carolyn brings over 33 years of experience in compliance and the employee benefits industry. She is also a member of the Employer's Council of Flexible Compensation, with a designation as a Certified Flexible Compensation Instructor. This seminar has been coordinated through Johnson-Witkemper, Inc. Insurance Services.
This seminar is open to everyone, however it will be most beneficial for employers with over 20 total employees (part and full time).
Three take-aways from this seminar will include:
- Understanding what is ERISA? Who is subject to ERISA? What does ERISA regulate?
- Understanding key ERISA requirements for reporting and disclosure
- Understanding fines and penalties for non-compliance, where the DOL has been, and where they are now
