Taking Care of Business - How the Opioid Epidemic Affects Local Businesses
Learn about how to be a part of creating a workforce that is supportive of the recovery process. The opioid crisis is affecting many areas of our community and businesses are not exempt.
This will feature Marla Satterfied, Manager of Human Resources at Our Hospice, and Member of the ASAP (Alliance of Substance Abuse Progress) Prevention Team. She will discuss supportive employment, positive screens and how to handle them, and treatment options.
Afterward from 9:00-9:30 am, Dr. Chris Schneider, a CRH Emergency Department physician, will be providing an optional naloxone (Narcan) training and distribution. Dr. Schneider will provide training on how to deploy naloxone, should it ever be needed.
Several local employers, who have had employees overdose at the workplace, have helped save their lives by deploying this medicine. The greater availability of naloxone, is one of the reasons the opioid death toll decreased from 2017 to 2018.
