Position Title: Development Coordinator

Location: Columbus  | Status: Full-time

Report to: Development Director, Lara Martin

Position Overview: The Development Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the strategic goals of our organization by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of various fundraising and development activities. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development Team and other team members to ensure the successful implementation of fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and event management.

Key Responsibilities:

 Fundraising and Campaign Support:

o Assist in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, and special events.

o Coordinate and manage donor communications, including thank you letters, newsletters, and campaign updates.

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the database, ensuring all contributions and interactions are properly recorded.

Event Coordination:

o Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events (i.e. In-home Gatherings & Impact Meeting) including logistics, vendor management, volunteer coordination, and post-event follow-up.

o Assist with the creation of event materials such as invitations, programs, and promotional content.

o Ensure event-related tasks are completed on time and within budget.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

o Support the Development Team in cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors and prospects.

o Prepare donor reports, proposals, and stewardship materials.

o Coordinate donor recognition activities and programs.

Communications and Marketing:

o Assist in the development of marketing materials, including brochures, social media content, and website updates.

o Coordinate the production and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.

o Ensure consistent and effective messaging across all communication channels.

 Administrative Support:

o Provide administrative support to the Development Team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing meeting materials.

o Assist with budget tracking and financial reporting related to development activities.

o Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the development department.

 

Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

o 2-3 years of experience in a development or fundraising role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.

 

Skills and Competencies:

o Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.

o Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

o Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.

o Creative problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.

o High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce).

o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

o Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Essential Physical Requirements And Work Environment

o Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; operating office equipment; and lifting up to 20 pounds.

o Visual Acuity; ability to see and hear within normal parameters, must use hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse; operate equipment or controls; reach above shoulder heights, below the waist; or lift to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required.
