First Rooms Completed as Our Hospice Center Capital Campaign Reaches Over $635K
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Columbus, Indiana] March 19, 2026 – The Hospice Center in Columbus has completed its first
renovated patient room and family room as part of the ongoing Hospice Center Refresh Capital
Campaign.
The campaign, launched to modernize the Hospice Center after more than 20 years of service to the
community, has now raised over $635,000 toward its $2 million goal.
While most hospice care is provided wherever patients call home, the Hospice Center offers short-term
inpatient care for those needing intensive pain and symptom management, as well as respite care for
caregivers. As the only inpatient hospice center in our area and one of just five in Indiana, the facility
plays an important role in supporting patients and their loved ones across south central Indiana.
The first completed family room was made possible through a generous gift from John and Judy
Kussman, with the first completed patient room funded through a gift from Tom Dowd and Steph Cain,
and the family kitchenette made possible through a gift from Eric and Missy Neal.
Donors were invited to a private open house on March 12 to celebrate the completion of the first
renovated spaces.
“These refreshed spaces help ensure patients and their loved ones have a comfortable, welcoming
environment during some of life’s most meaningful moments,” said Steph Cain, President of Our Hospice.
“We are grateful to the donors who are helping make these improvements possible and ensuring the
Hospice Center continues serving our community for years to come.”
The Hospice Center Refresh will update patient rooms, family areas and shared spaces throughout the
facility, creating a more comfortable setting while supporting the care team’s ability to focus on what
matters most.
